Elizabeth “Liz” Oates joined award-winning premium cruise line Celebrity Cruises as Vice President of Strategy and Finance in July 2016.
As Vice President of Strategy and Finance, Oates leads a team of 20 professionals whose primary responsibilities are to help the brand make better decisions through data, insight and the development of strategic initiatives in planning for the brand’s future. Under Oates are three key teams: Brand Finance, Strategy, and Consumer Insights. Her responsibilities include the successful management of the brand budget, deployment strategy, air strategy, brand strategy, and research and consumer insights. She and her team are also responsible for building business cases for all major investments.
A seasoned travel industry executive, Oates joined Celebrity Cruises following nearly a decade in the business, starting her career as an Analyst in Revenue Management for the brand’s parent company, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL). During her time at RCL, she fulfilled many roles across Revenue Management, Revenue Planning, and Corporate and Capital Planning before returning to school to receive her M.B.A. After business school, Oates led Corporate Strategy for RCL for three years before joining the Celebrity brand.
Oates received her M.B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance, Marketing, and Analytic Managements. She also has a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Oates, her husband, and her daughter currently call Coral Gables, Florida, home.
