Celebrity Cruises

In May 2015, Brian Abel joined the Celebrity Cruises family as Vice President of Hotel Operations; In April 2018, Abel was promoted to Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations for the premium cruise brand.

He is responsible for bringing award-winning onboard experiences to hundreds of thousands of guests on Celebrity’s 13 ships, which sail to all seven continents. He oversees strategy and concept development for entertainment, guest relations, accommodations, culinary, and, with the promotion, onboard revenue – all of which are aspects that make the Celebrity experience a rich, memorable one. Abel is also responsible for pioneering a new service culture for the brand, delivering guests the world at their service.

Prior to joining Celebrity Cruises, Abel was Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations for Celebrity Cruises’ sister brand, Royal Caribbean International (RCI), where he led the restaurant, bar and culinary operations for RCI’s 22-ship fleet. Abel oversaw all food and beverage innovations, marketing, concept development, and execution. At RCI, Abel introduced a partnership with Jamie Oliver as well as multiple new restaurant concepts, and reimagined classic RCI experiences.

Prior to joining RCI, Abel spent nine years at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, most recently as Vice President, Food and Beverage, North America Division. In this role, Abel was responsible for all aspects of Starwood's Food and Beverage Operation, that included nine hotel chains and more than 500 hotels and resorts. Abel was also responsible for concept and menu development, venue and interior design, and managing third party relationship.

Throughout Abel’s career, he has been committed to creating winning teams through continuous improvement, and recruiting, developing and retaining the best talent.  In addition to Starwood, his experience includes leadership roles at China Grill Management and Grand Hospitality in New York, which included boutique hotels SoHo Grand Hotel and Tribeca Grand Hotel. 

Abel began his career in Food and Beverage in 1997 after receiving a master’s degree in Hospitality Management from Cornell University.

He currently lives in South Florida with his wife Emilie and their three children.
